Introducing the big brother to our beloved ShortStop – enter the LongStop.
Developed through years of rigorous testing and implementation of end user feedback, the LongStop blends the favorable and proven design elements of the ShortStop with the increased flexibility and general usability of an angled foregrip. This adaptation is particularly beneficial on shorter handguards, or applications where the real estate available to push a ShortStop forward is limited, as it will prevent your arm + wrist from ending up in a compressed state, increasing long term comfort and usability.
The LongStop features the same the same natural contouring and tapering of the ShortStop, simply extending further downward vs kicking forward to lock your hand in, as well as our proprietary directional texturing that can be found on our grips + cable management panels, making minor grip shifts for weaponlight/LAM activation a breeze.
The most critical element of the ShortStop that has been carried into the design of the LongStop is natural, repeatable indexing… Almost all handstops, foregrips, etc. are repeatable, but not all are natural – this is partly why you may notice that so many of the world’s best competition rifle shooters run “slick” rails, and likewise is why an increasing number of instructors are now requesting students to start classes with slick rails before adding anything on.
The designs of many prevalent options on the market increase tendencies to over-drive the muzzle, particularly laterally, under recoil and through dynamic target engagement/transitions. The short and sweet “why” for this, is that these options encourage “direct” rearward pressure, where the stock in your shoulder pocket becomes the pivot point, and your support arm pulls and pushes around that pivot as it attempts to apply that rearward pressure.
A slick rail or a handstop such as the ShortStop promotes a leveraged thumb forward application of pressure that circumvents this issue + increases control of the muzzle, and in the case of the Short and LongStop designs, also enables far greater comfort and long term usability. You can visualize this thumb forward pressure by imagining the proper application of torque through your pinky when managing handgun recoil.
The presence of a properly designed handstop or angled foregrip (ShortStop or LongStop) will enhance your ability to manage recoil and muzzle rise in a natural, repeatable, effective manner, without increasing your likelihood of inadvertently over driving the muzzle, and without coming at the cost of comfort.
As with all of our products, the LongStop is made in the USA (by MK Machining) and supported with our full lifetime warranty.
